Hospital System Optimization and Cost Reduction Audit

In 2001, faced with the possibility of closure, the residents of a small rural county in Northern California decided to buy the 48-bed hospital and run it themselves.  The new management inherited a telecommunications system and infrastructure that had minimal documentation and high monthly cost.  The hospital needed more than just an audit to reduce expenses; they needed to understand what was in place and how to keep the cost under control.  Results of worked performed:

  • An annual savings of over $20,000.00 was realized from optimizing their telephone systems features, reducing the number of CO lines and refunds resulting from billing errors.
  • Complete documentation of the switch hardware and programming was provided to the staff responsible for telecommunications.
  • Procedures were implemented that will help contain cost in the future.
