Centralized Voice and Data Communications Project

 

The high school district wanted to provide a new infrastructure that would connect the two high schools and the district office, replace the telephone system and add centralized voice mail and automated attendant. Comlink Consulting was hired to provide turnkey consulting and project management services. The project began with an assessment of the district’s facilities and needs.  Comlink Consulting was responsible for:

  • Developing the project budget
  • Cable plant design
  • Developing bid specifications
  • Issuing RFP
  • Evaluating responses and negotiated the contract
  • Making presentations to the school board 
  • Procuring the PBX system under the GSA contract 
  • Providing installation and end user training project management 

The project was completed on time and within the specified budget.

 

Education Cost Reduction Audit

 

In an effort to reduce cost and take advantage of E-Rate funding provided to all schools, a rural northern California high school district outsourced their data and E-Rate projects. The district’s large telephone bills caught the attention of the project manager. Comlink Consulting was hired to audit the bills and reduce cost. An audit of the bills from three local and one long distance carrier included:

  • $58,000.00 yearly savings
    • Disconnected unused data circuits and telephone lines Corrected billing errors
    • Obtained refunds for service not delivered
    • Moved to new long distance carrier and closed old accounts
  • Consolidated bills to one per carrier reducing the number bills the district has to process
  • Tracked all orders to completion and verified savings

Project Management & Managed Services

Redwoods Community College District has been a Comlink Consulting client since 1996. Comlink Consulting has been responsible for:

  • Needs assessment and cost benefit analysis for replacement of Centrex services
  • Procurement of centralized PBX & Voice Mail system
    • Developed Request for Proposal (RFP)
    • Distributed RFP to qualified GSA vendors
